52 Pair Plunge

I sent the e-mail off to join the 52 Pair Plunge. Yep, 52 pairs of socks in 52 weeks. Yep. A lot of socks. Yep.

So here is my plan:

1. 5 pair each for RM, Soccerchica and Boo-boo (15 pair)
2. 6 pair for Holiday gifts
3. 4 pair as baby shower gifts
4. 5 pair for me
5. Charity knitting - The Haven could use some, I am sure.
6. Goodness knows what I'll do with the rest.

A pair a week sounds easy, until I really looked at the patterns I wanted to knit (read: All Cookie A's designs), what I already have on my needles (technically not a lot) and all the other things I may want to knit (Fiery bolero, the big frill, etc.). It may be that I have "plunged" into too big of a project. When you think about the sheer number of stitches it takes to knit 52 pairs of socks. Yeeeeek.

Still, I have enthusiasm for this project. Socks are fun for me in the summer because they are easy to tote around. Plus if I am doing baby and kids socks the count should add up quickly. Not even a mention or thought about the skeins (and skeins) of yummy sock yarn I will be using has crossed my mind. The colors, the fibers, the . . . money?! Oh well, we only live once. So here I go!

BTW ~ if anyone could help with saving the buttons (52 Pair Plunge and the Debbie Bliss KAL) to my side bar, I would really appreciate the help.

Update - Yea it works! Thanks eKNITabeth!

Oh my! Aren't you the epitome of organization, making a list of what socks to do for the KAL?? I'm going in prepared to just dive into the sock yarn tote and work on what I grab. There are a few specifics I'll need to work on at different times for swaps, birthdays, etc., but for the most part, I'm just going to relax and have FUN with it!

Very brave. I can't help but notice that you left out a few deserving recipients for cool, handmade socks. Um, let's see...who could that be? Do you know anyone who lives in Montana? Just curious. Seriously, if you make CJ and Lula Belle a couple pair, I will be happy to reimburse for the yarn! Love ya, sis! JJ

Oh my word! That is quite an undertaking. I am impressed that you believe that you can pull it off. I don't know if I will finish 4 knitted things in a year this year, let alone 52!

YOU are incredibly Game!

I am averaging one sock per week - just plain ole St st. I knit 'em on the bus while the wheels go round'n'round...

The http address for the 52PP button is: http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r102/eknitabeth/KALs/52PairPlungeButton.jpg
as per my photobucket account.
You should be able to go from Blogger Dashboard to "Template" under your site heading... from there choose "add picture" and paste the addy above.
Best regards,
E.

Wow! What an undertaking! If you run out of people to knit socks for, I wear a size 6 shoe and I'll be happy to send you my address. (LOL)

Hi, it's just the second time that I stop by to read but gosh! This really is a courageous project! I love the way you write about it all, I had finished reading the whole page before I even knew it! Quite good pictures too!
Thanks for making want to knit again - I had banned all my unfinished projects to an abandonned basket due to a complete lack of motivation. But thanks to you, that's all back now ;-)
